Murder inquiry launched after man found dead in Heanor
A man has been charged as part of a murder inquiry, following a death in Heanor earlier this week.
Police were called to reports that a man had been found dead at an address in Howitt Street, just before 11.55am on Monday 30 September.
The man was later identified as 62-year-old Shaun Harriman. Mr Harriman’s family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Croome, who is leading the investigation, said: “I appreciate that incidents such as this are worrying to people living in the area but I’d like to reassure the public that those involved were known to each other and there is no wider risk.
“I’d also like to express my thanks to all those who have come forward with information so far and encourage anyone else who can help with our investigation to please contact police if you haven’t already done so.”
Lee Young, of Howitt Street, Heanor was arrested on Monday and has now been charged with murder.
The 37-year-old appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on 3 October when the case was adjourned and he was remanded in custody.
