We want our right of free speech returned as the message from local protest group, Amber Valley SOS, as they protested outside Amber Valley Borough Council.
At a recent meeting Amber Valley Borough Council had informed members of the public that a rule was in place that meant the public could not raise an issue that had previously been raised within the last six months.
Amber Valley SOS felt this was a restriction of their freedom of speech and would limit their ability to have their say over a number of potential green field developments in Amber Valley.
Around 40 people attended the protest last night and after a brief discussion between Amber Valley SOS organisers and Peter Carney, Chief Executive of Amber Valley Borough Council, protesters were allowed into the council meeting and given three minutes between them to have their say.
