M1 Junction 28 Southbound Exit Slip Drainage Works This Weekend
National Highways are carrying out essential maintenance to the drainage system on the M1 at J28 southbound exit slip, in order to improve surface water levels and avoid flooding.
Once the work is completed, it will allow for a safer drive and a reduction in traffic build up around peak times.
Work will take place from Friday 16 August 2024 at 8pm until Sunday 18 August 2024 at 6am. To carry out our work safely, the southbound exit slip at junction 28 will be fully closed.
During closures, they will install a fully signed diversion route. Traffic will continue on the M1 southbound carriageway to junction 27 then head back north to junction 28.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.
National Highways will make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. They always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
