DLRAA & NMU Receives Donations From Joanne Flint & Family 2023

Published on Tuesday 25 July 2023

On Monday 3rd July 2023, Joanne Flint donated £450.00 to Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA). £450.00 to The Nightingale Macmillan Unit patients fund (NMU)

Janet Sanders from the NMU, Veronica Flint, Joanne Flint, Richard Fletcher, Grace Fletcher

Joanne presented Richard, Grace & Julie Fletcher Derbyshire Volunteer Community Representatives for DLRAA, with the cheque at The Nightingale Macmillan Unit (NMU) based within the Royal Derby Hospital. The donation came through holding a Grand Charity Concert at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Wirksworth on 24th June 2022. Gresley Male Voice Choir & Bestwood Male Voice Choir /Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir, provided a truly amazing concert. You were treated to a very special night of singing at the highest level.

Richard said: “We were delighted to be presented with the cheque from Joanne Flint and her family. DLRAA relies entirely on donations from members of the public as it receives no Government or National Lottery funding. Therefore, support from people such as Joanne really is invaluable and goes a long way to helping to keep our lifesaving service flying and saving lives.” DLRAA was formed in 2008 and has carried out more than 24,000 Rescue missions and saved many lives in the process, each rescue mission costing on average £1,700 with DLRAA completing on average 8-10 missions every single day, 365 days a year. We would like to thank all the visitors for the generosity and fantastic support they have given and a very special thank you to musical directors Karl Harper from Gresley Male Voice & Mirek Rus Bestwood & Pye Hill Male Voice from the very first note it was the purest of male harmony a truly spellbinding memorable evening thank you, and to members from the Matlock Derwent Valley Lions Club who helped us on the evening.

The Nightingale Macmillan Unit (NMU) is based within the Royal Derby Hospital. The unit is a 21 bedded specialist palliative care unit which provides care to patients with advanced progressive and life limiting illness in Southern Derbyshire. This includes patients with cancer and non-malignant diseases such as motor neurone disease and end stage organ failure. Donations to the NMU patients fund are used to fund the purchase of equipment and services that directly benefit patients cared for within all the departments at NMU.

Joanne already has plans underway for the next fundraising event in 2025; which will hopefully feature the Côr Meibion Colwyn (Colwyn Male Voice Choir), an evening not to be missed.
