Right royal offer from Luke Evans Bakery
Derbyshire bakery Luke Evans is donating ten coronation cakes to local communities and good causes as part of the King’s coronation celebrations.
This will be the eighth coronation seen by the bakery in its long history, and as a key member of the community for more 200 years, Luke Evans is keen to play its part in the latest royal event.
The Riddings-based bakery is donating ten special coronation cakes and is now appealing for local groups and communities to get in touch and explain the reasons why they should be one of the lucky winners.
Luke Evans MD David Yates said: “Luke Evans Bakery has played a central role in Derbyshire communities since 1804. George III was on the throne when Luke Evans was founded, and this will be the eighth coronation there has been since we first started trading. Just like at previous celebrations, we want to play our part, be involved, and help local groups to celebrate the occasion of the coronation of King Charles.
“The ten iced sponge sharing cakes that we are donating are suitable for street parties, garden parties and other gatherings, and make a great showstopper for any buffet or afternoon tea.”
Luke Evans has already seen an increase in orders as fans of royalty plan for the big day on Saturday 6th May, with scones, coronation cupcakes and bread rolls all in demand.
“We’re anticipating a rush on products like scones, which are one of the main ingredients of a cream tea, so our bakers are gearing up for a busy time as we head towards the coronation day,” added David.
Luke Evans Bakery is one of the oldest family-run bakeries in the country, with a history stretching back to 1804 when it was founded by Henry Evans and named after his brother Luke. Based in Greenhill Lane, Riddings, in Derbyshire, it has been passed down seven generations and is still in the same family over 200 years later.
The bakery supplies both retail and catering customers across the East Midlands. Its coronation range includes scones, coronation cupcakes, cheese straws, fruit cakes, quiches, tarts and more.
Local groups in Derbyshire wishing to apply for one of the coronation sharing cakes should email davidyates@lukeevans.co.uk before 1st May 2023, stating why they deserve to receive one of the sweet treats.
