Lauren's Legacy Charity receives cash boost from staff and locals at the Black Boy Inn, Heage
On Tuesday 10th March, the trustees of registered charity Lauren’s Legacy were handed a cheque for £1140 from the owners of The Black Boy Inn in Heage.
The money was collected in the form of donations from the Pubs owners, Dave Gunston and Angie Robinson, other staff members, customers and stall holders involved in the pubs annual Christmas Market last year.
Marston’s Brewery also kindly donated a barrel of beer with the proceeds of the sale being added to make this amazing total.
The Black Boy Inn is a popular family run for the community village pub serving great food and real ales. Angie Robinson said “We are pleased to hand over this money to Lauren’s Legacy. It’s a brilliant charity and of course Lauren used to work at the pub so she was known and loved by everyone who helped raise this money”
Lauren’s Legacy, a registered charity, number 1185181, it was set up by the family and friends of Heage girl Lauren ‘Loz’ Elliot last June, following the tragic death of Lauren, who sadly passed away at the age of 22 after a 5 years battle against cancer.
Father of Lauren and Lauren’s Legacy Trustee Kurt Elliot said “We can’t thank Dave and Angie and all the staff and locals enough for this donation. It will be used to carry on the work of this worthwhile and very personal charity”
Lauren’s Legacy charity has been set up to directly help cancer sufferers from the East Midlands region aged between 13 - 24 years old, by granting them ‘wishes’ to make their time fighting their illness a little bit more comfortable. ‘Wishes’ already granted by the charity to young people include laptop computers, play stations and concert tickets. The Charity is also in the process of raising funds to purchase a holiday home which will be made available, free of charge, to young people and their families to use for respite from the day to day stresses and strains of dealing with the consequences of this terrible disease.
