Hi, my name is Carol Watson. I'm originally from North Yorkshire and now live in Derby working from home in a fully equipped office.
I provide office support including MS Office Training for sole traders, entrepreneurs and medium sized businesses within Derby and throughout the UK.
Before establishing SME Office Support in 2014 I wore many hats for many industries spread over 30 years! That’s an awful lot of hats!! I worked for many years as an IT Trainer for Lewes District Council and Derby College and gained a variety of skills and experience in Administrator/PA roles working for a university, local authority, solicitors, chartered surveyor, construction industry and a care home. I really enjoyed working in the care home as I feel I have a natural affinity and great respect for the elderly. So much so, I qualified to become the Dementia Awareness Facilitator for the home which was an amazing opportunity and so rewarding.
My two strongest skills have to be my 'people skills’ and my ‘technical skills’ and as I continue to learn new and exciting software and features I rely on my ‘people skills’ to prevent me from becoming too much of a 'geek'!
I absolutely relish any opportunity to develop automated office systems utilising MS Office applications to save users time and improve efficiency and productivity and a couple of my key achievements are:
Developing a resident database using MS Excel at Willowcroft Care Home which produces ‘push button’ automated reporting using macros, formula and pivot tables. The database improved efficiency and communication between staff and saved so much time. The system has been rolled out to other homes and used by management, admin and care staff.
Sourced and procured 3D page turning software (Desktop Author) for Clegg Construction and familiarised myself with the software to create digital promotional material.
