Every year, The Royal British Legion receives fantastic support from the people of Derbyshire but to make poppies available across the county takes an army of volunteers to help distribute the iconic poppy and collect donations.
Christine Selden, Community Fundraiser for Derbyshire said ‘Anyone can volunteer to help and we need a lot of volunteers to maximize the fundraising opportunities that are available. We need people with access to cars to help deliver boxes of poppies & collection tins to schools, shops & businesses in the run up to the start of Remembrance and to collect them back in again after the 11th November. We also need people to man stands at supermarkets and I am particularly keen to get community groups and local businesses involved who may be able to collect for a day at a supermarket. It helps us to keep stands manned throughout the Appeal and is great PR for them.’
Whether you have a link to someone serving in the armed forces or not, you can be part of a team that has currently raised over £38 million nationally over the last year.
