Ozbox is a concept developed in 2003. Dectective Inspector Steve Osbaldeston from Chesterfield Police was inspired to develop a scheme aimed especially at youths between the ages of 12 to 19 years. Both male and females who are involved in crime or anti-social behaviour or those spiraling towards it are encouraged to take part. It also encourages participants from family and school groups from all social economic backgrounds.
Ozbox is a free project, for the youngsters, however donations are a huge part in what makes the project as successful as it possibly can be. This money ensures the facilities can remain open, new equipment can be purchased and serviced. The money left over covers advertising costs, such as leaflets for schools and the maintenance of our mobile gyms.
The project is solely run by volunteer off duty police officers and staff. They are not expecting to be paid for the hard work they put in, however funding is needed to keep the project going and expanding into the areas that need it most.
The team includes: Steve Osbaldeston MBE, Darren Comins, Mark Smith & many more.
