Frank Key (Nottingham) Ltd. is a large privately owned, independent, supplier of building and timber supplies Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. We have over 100 year history of providing classic service since being founded by Frank Key in 1907.
We stay at the forefront of business by keeping abreast of new market developments and applying ourselves to every customer requirement. In fact, the key to our success is providing customer service second to none. We will order non-stocked items, we stick to our delivery dates and we honour our agreements.
Our customers and staff are key to our business, we don't like losing them! Many of our staff are long standing employees with a many years experience of working in the industry.
All areas of our business including the office, showroom, trade counter, customer warehouse, storage areas and loading bays are expertly managed by our team of 90 dedicated and hard working staff. This is a happy contrast to the situation during World War II when the business was near extinct - for nearly all the employees except for Frank Key were conscripted.
Our head office location on the Mansfield Road / Portland Street junction is ideal both for Frank Key itself as a supplier to builders in the city and surrounding areas, and for our 'do it yourself' customers. In addition the site offers ample parking.
Our first premises were in Mansfield, the connections with Nottingham being forged only in 1935. We moved to our present premises in 1953 and have been expanding ever since with various extensions and the acquisition of the adjoining showroom.
In 1977, we launched our plant hire company, which was shortly followed by our skip hire service, making Frank Key the only true one stop shop in Nottingham. Over the years both have grown, with our plant hire division becoming the best stocked independent in the city, with the widest range of fleet for hire.
In 2006, following a number of years at another garden centre, we opened our landscaping centre at Timmermans Garden Centre. With all of our landscaping ranges on show and with a dedicated expert on site, it is ideal for people who wish to take their time, in a quiet environment, rather than our busy main yards!
In 2007, following a number of years successfully selling kitchens to the trade, we set up our Kitchen and Bathroom showroom, offering a wide variety of suppliers and styles, we are able to supply all customers from large contractors to members of the public. With two dedicated staff and upto date planning software, we are able to assist the customer from scratch.
In 2008, the group launched its biggest expansion to date by acquiring two further sites, Lillington Road South, Bulwell and Wimsey Way, Somercotes (Near Alfreton). Both are rapidly growing sites which offer a full range of building, timber and landscaping supplies, and have allowed us to offer our legendary Frank Key service to more customers.
In November 2010, we opened a new dedicated showroom at our Daybrook head office, featuring a range of log burners, stoves, fire places, bedroom furniture and flooring. Named Home Solutions this can be found on Nottingham Road, it has a dedicated expert on site to answer your every question.
