Frank Daniels
I am a certified Master Hypnotist (CMH.), certified Hypnotherapist (C.Hyp.) and Master Practitioner (and
certified Trainer) of NLP. I have diplomas in Ericksonian Hypnosis and in Teaching Stress-Management. I am a member of the NLPtCA (the Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy and Counselling Association) and the
(UKCP) United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy which has over 7000 registered members (memberships and codes of ethics available for viewing). I have been providing Hypnotherapy and NLP Psychotherapy since 1987. As well as being a therapist I run one of Britains longest established training schools in NLP (and Ericksonian Hypnosis).
Hypnosis
Although there is still some prejudice against it due to old myths, stage acts and charlatans, Hypnosis is now being used more and more by doctors, dentists, social workers, therapists, sports people, nurses and other professionals.
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness in which the inner, or unconscious, emotional part of the mind is more active. People usually feel an enjoyable sense of relaxation.
In everyday life people enter the hypnotic state naturally whilst daydreaming, watching TV, fantasizing and vividly recalling memories.
Hypnosis:
• is perfectly safe (no-one has ever been harmed by the hypnotic state);
• is not sleep or unconsciousness, you hear what is said;
• cannot be forced on you, it requires your active co-operation;
• everyone can be hypnotised although the degree varies. Usually only a light trance is necessary for therapy.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy using hypnosis. (Psychotherapy is treatment of psychological problems by using knowledge of the mind). By using Hypnosis we can ‘talk to’ the inner mind and more easily overcome the source of the problems - in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. There are many styles, or 'schools', of hypnosis. The approach I use (Ericksonian) is flexible and non-authoritarian, and will be tailored to your needs.
NLP
Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy is an aspect of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) which grew out, and is a refinement of, Hypnotherapy. It studies how we think and how our thoughts affect our feeling and behaviours. NLP provides a whole range of highly practical techniques for communication and therapy. Although NLP works on the unconscious part of the mind, orthodox trance is not necessary.
NLP is renowned for providing rapid, effective and lasting solutions to problems. As well as for therapy, NLP is being used in business, sport and education.
A Therapy Session - What to expect
In an atmosphere of confidentiality, trust and respect I'll start by asking you questions to find out what you want and what's been stopping you making the changes you want, consciously and unconsciously. The actual change techniques may involve being guided into a deliberate daydream like state, going back into the past, remembering things in new ways, imagining how you want things to be, describing your thoughts and feelings, and enjoying a relaxing experience.
It requires your participation during the session and possibly at home practising relaxation.
Length of Treatment
While simple problems such as habits (e.g. nail-biting) can take only one or two sessions, more complex problems may take three or more sessions. There is no minimum number of sessions in advance as everyone is treated individually according to their needs and I aim to get results as quickly as possible. Some people may choose this as a method of self-development and come intermittently over a longer term.
Rather than fixing the session length at 1 hour, I find it more efficient to complete a particular piece of therapy. The usual time for the first session is about 1 hour 30 minutes. For those travelling from far afield, it is often possible to make major changes in one longer session of 2 - 3 hours.
Selecting a Therapist
Selecting the right therapist is an individual matter. There is no one governing body for Hypnotherapists and various schools and associations emphasise different aspects or methods.
If you wish to ask me questions, get to know me, or discuss how we could work together, I am happy to speak to you on the phone. There is no obligation to start therapy.
You can telephone me, Frank Daniels, on 01773 857678. I look forward to hearing from you.
