Derbyshire Community Foundation is Derbyshire’s own charity, helping the people of Derbyshire to help the people of Derbyshire.
We were established in 1996 to build an endowment fund that enables those with the commitment and means to give, to meet our county’s needs today and forever.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, the Foundation has become one of the county’s leading charities - we have distributed over £13 million of grants across Derbyshire and built an endowment fund that is now worth over £6.3 million.
We support the most vulnerable in our society and help enrich the lives of people living in our communities by funding a wide range of groups, including those involved in supporting carers, survivors of domestic abuse, children, young people and isolated elderly residents.
Our grants also provide the people of Derbyshire with access to music, sport, advice, childcare, transport, counselling and a host of other services.
Many of Derbyshire’s needs are hidden from view and a great deal of vital work in the community is undertaken by smaller, less well known groups, for whom even small amounts of money can have a huge and lasting impact. It can therefore be difficult to find out about local charities and projects that need support. The Foundation’s local county wide knowledge helps us to identify suitable recipients and reach those who might not otherwise find the funds they need.
It’s the Foundation’s donors – businesses, individuals, trusts and families - who make our work possible. Proud to be investing in their local communities, these people use the Foundation’s local knowledge to transform their donations, passions and concerns in to grants that make a vital difference and transform local lives.
By linking local donors with local needs in this way, Derbyshire Community Foundation works to make a difference, now and for future generations, for Derbyshire for good.
