Chevin Golf Club is a private members club that welcomes visitors. Renowned for our friendliness, good food and hospitality; which is demonstrated by the number of visitors and societies that return to Chevin year after year.
Located at the foot of the Derbyshire Hills; Chevin starts out with a gentle first two holes, as you turn for the 3rd, the course begins to climb. On the 9th Green, you can take in some of the most spectacular views in Derbyshire. The 10th, 11th and 12th are relatively flat and then from the 13th, you play downhill to the 17th, finishing with a gentle par 5 on the 18th. Certainly an interesting and sometimes challenging course.
Chevin Golf Club formally opened on October 13th 1894 by professionals James Braid and Tom Williamson, the course consists of 18 holes with both Parkland and Moorland terrain and magnificent 5 county views from the Chevin Ridge. The histories surrounding the site include, Paleolithic to Bronze and Iron Age people and later Roman Legionnaires. The course was first conceived at the ‘Court House Farm’ where the old Court (now a private residence) houses a lock-up where prisoners were kept until their demise close to the 13 hole aptly named The Gibbet.
