County Council b_line reminder
If you go to school in Derbyshire you should have received your new b_line1 or b_line2 card by now. If you haven't, check with your school when you should get it.
If you go to college, are a trainee, are doing an apprenticeship, working or looking for work, you will need to make an individual application. Application forms can be downloaded at the YouthInc website (opens in a new window).
Old-style cards have been accepted for local cut-price bus and train travel even though the new b_line scheme started in August. But after October 31 they will no longer be accepted. Anyone without a new b_line2 card will then have to pay the full adult fare.
Councillor Dean Collins, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport and Infrastructure, said:
"We're pleased to have been able to extend the b_line scheme to young people, other than those attending school. But to qualify for a discount you must apply now for a new card".
"We know how important it is for young people to be able to get out and about independently and we don't want anyone who's entitled to miss out on this valuable benefit."
The b_line scheme is jointly funded by ourselves and Derby City Council. It enables all young people, up to the age of 19, who live in Derbyshire to get discounts on public transport for journeys completely within Derbyshire.
Discounts are also available on some journeys to and from nearby towns and cities providing the trip starts or finishes in Derbyshire.
b_line cards also offer discounts at around 600 local shops and businesses and can be used to borrow at all Derbyshire and Derby city libraries.
