Free training for driving instructors from Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership

Published on Tuesday 25 August 2015

Driving instructors are being offered free training that will allow them to take part in Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership’s new Learn Safe, Drive scheme.

Andy Adlington from the road safety partnership said: “Learn Safe, Drive Safe is designed to cut the number of crashes involving young drivers by offering them extra support before and after they pass their test.

“Instructors who train with us will help to prepare learners for some of the psychological challenges they’ll face behind the wheel such as peer pressure and distraction.

“The great thing about the coaching is that it’s designed to be delivered in-car as part of students’ normal lessons. As a result it doesn’t increase costs, lengthen the lesson or reduce the amount of time spent gaining practical experience.”

Andy added: “Our Learn Safe, Drive Safe instructors are also trained to deliver the post-test driving lessons we offer to people aged 25 or under who have passed their test during the last 18 months.

“These sessions are designed to give a skills boost to inexperienced motorists and they cover motorway, town and country driving as well as night and all-weather driving. Thanks to partnership funding, they are available to the drivers for free.”

Below are details of the latest instructor training sessions:

For more information or to book a place, contact Andy Adlington on 01629 538067 or 07827 308480.

The Learn Safe, Drive Safe scheme was originally created by South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership and has already been introduced in several other areas of the country.
