Visit Heage Windmill For National Mill Weekend

National Mills Weekend is on  May 9th/10th and of course , like many other mills in DERBYSHIRE, and throughout the country , Heage windmill be taking part. Our doors will be open both days from 11-00am until 4-00pm and as an added attraction the Nunsfield Amateur Radio Club will be on site throughout the weekend, They will set up a temporary radio station and attempt to make contact throughout  the weekend with as many similar organisations as possible who will be located at other wind and watermills. Of course, depending on weather conditions, they may also contact mills round the world! And visitors to Heage will be able to see and hear this happening   as well as taking in the delights of our 200 year old working machine!

The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) are sponsoring the weekend and or promoting a Nationwide Art Completion, open to all Amateurs . See below for more information.


SPAB –‘Mills in Art ‘ Competition 2015

To celebrate ‘Mills in Art’ we would like to see everyone draw, paint, or photograph

mills! So after last year’s success, we are again running a competition for National

Mills Weekend 2015, with new categories and prizes.

 

Adult competition

You can enter any artwork featuring a windmill or watermill in the following

categories:

- Fine art (any 2D medium: drawing, painting, collage, etc.)

- Photography

The competition is aimed at amateur artists and photographers aged 16 or over, and

is limited to one entry per person. All entries must be sent with a completed entry

form in order to be considered. Artworks (or scans/photographs) should be sent to

the Mills Section by post or email by 24 May 2015. Please note that artworks

cannot be returned, and that by entering your work you are giving permission to the

Mills Section to reproduce it in SPAB publications and online.

 

Children’s competition

For younger mill lovers we also have a competition for the best drawing, painting or

collage of a windmill or watermill. To enter you will need to be under the age of 16

on the closing date.
