Children’s centres help to:

They provide the services you need when and where you need them to make sure your child is healthy, happy and safe, involved in the community, and successful now and in the future. Services include:
- access to pre-school education
- help in finding childcare
- health services
- information and advice for parents/carers
- training opportunities
- counselling

This is just a taste of what is on offer. Each centre varies and may include a lot more. But every Children’s Centre offers services to suit the needs of families in the local area so you don’t have to shop around to get the support you need.
Visit a children’s centre to see what we can offer your family. You can also become more involved if you want. Each Children’s Centre has a Local Advisory Group which a number of parents and carers can join. This group has members from organisations providing services in your community. Members work together to make sure families with young children are offered the right type of high quality support they need and that services continue to develop and improve.
Another way you can get more involved is by volunteering. Our volunteers get full training before joining the children’s centre team. In some cases it may be possible to offer you childcare support. Becoming a volunteer means you:
- Can increase your confidence
- Get valuable work experience
